Handling Complications Early: What to Do

- In early kidney damage, medications that reduce intraglomerular pressure or block the renin–angiotensin system can slow decline.
- For neuropathy, pain relief, improved glycemic control, regular foot care, and protective footwear are crucial.
- If a foot ulcer or infection occurs, immediate wound care, offloading, and referral to specialists help minimize amputation risk.
